The CRA has received the following note from the Chairman of the RBBC planning committee, relating to a reporting error in our January newsletter article on the proposed Allmanor equestrian centre:
As the Chairman of the council’s planning committee I take a keen interest in how the events of meetings are reported and have noticed an error is the reporting of the events surrounding the December meeting and the Equestrian centre application.
In the article it states :
“Due to a series of misunderstandings and technicalities, amendments submitted by the applicant in an attempt to allay fears raised at the November meeting were not allowed to be considered. “
The true facts are slightly different; the applicant did not formally submit the amendments to the council which is why the amendments could not be considered by the committee. I understand that the applicant did discuss the amendments with the planning department, but when told that the amendments would need to go out for residents consultation, the applicant decided that they would prefer not to delay the application further and that they would proceed without them, thus leaving the committee to consider the application unchanged, as it was at the November meeting. It was unfortunate that the applicant had circulated all of the committee with these amendments just prior to deciding not to submit them as this created great confusion for the committee as well as members of the public.
I think you will agree that this adds a slightly different perspective on the meeting's events as reported on your website.
