RBBC Core Strategy Completed

Following our article in the March 2012 newsletter, RBBC has now completed its 7 year consultation and development process for their proposed submission document on Core Strategy. This document covers development in the borough over the next 15 years. The CRA has had an active input into this process on the village’s behalf and believes the latest draft represents a useful statement of intent for the protection and development of Chipstead’s position as a rural commuter village.

The Core Strategy provides the spatial strategy for Reigate & Banstead, and covers a wide range of spatial planning issues, including economic development, regeneration, housing, environmental protection, transport, health and education.  Underpinning the Core Strategy is a commitment by the Council to ensure that future development in the borough is achieved in a sustainable way – that it delivers prosperous and self-reliant communities, whilst ensuring that the borough remains attractive, accessible and well-maintained.

The Core Strategy is the first in a series of planning documents that will together make up the Reigate & Banstead Local Development Framework (the LDF). Once adopted, the Core Strategy will form part of the statutory Development Plan that guides land-use and planning (including neighbourhood planning) in the borough.

The complete Core Strategy document can be read at the link above.
